About paper

All artwork from Nordic Archive is printed on Munken Polar, produced by Arctic Paper in Munkedal Sweden. Munkedal is about 100 km north of Göteborg (Sweden), and is one of the most environmentally-friendly paper mills in the world. The site was chosen with care – but Arctic Paper was not the first. That was the monks, who later gave their name to the estate, the paper mill, the village, the district and, finally, the brand. Where the Munkedal and Örekil Rivers meet, the monks used to fish for salmon for the monastery at Bokenäset, alongside the beach at Gullmarn fjord. That was eight hundred years ago, but the Örekil River is still considered to be one of the country’s finest salmon rivers, with many keen anglers visiting every year.

Extraordinary printing demands extraordinary design paper. The Munken polar paper is a high-quality uncoated fine paper. The uncoated smooth surface of Munken Polar and its bright white shade enhances images and has an exclusive, yet authentic appeal. Munken Polar is developed for offset print and digital printing. Munken Polar is also environmentally friendly and the ideal choice for everyone that likes a natural impression in their printed material. Munken Polar is FSC™ and PEFC certified paper.
